He’s done it all—and with class. Jeff Jordan redefined online commerce as the head of eBay Marketplaces, popularized digital payments by scaling PayPal and brought the restaurant industry into the Internet Age as the CEO of OpenTable. As a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, he’s now funding the next wave of online innovation. In this one-on-one conversation with the New York Times' Jenna Wortham, Jeff will share his insights into the digital consumer and what’s next for all of us on the information superhighway (we’re rooting for the ability to make reservations for dinner on the moon or bid on someone to do our daily—erm—okay, weekly gym workouts). Hailed as the ultimate team player, Jeff will also delve into what it takes to lead a company that has to scale exponentially. Join Jeff as he takes us into the future.

The roundtable discussion will include speakers from the private and educational sector, specifically business and engineering academicians from the Austin Independent School District (AISD), Austin Community College (ACC), Concordia University, Texas State University and the University of Texas.

The Austin Tech Incubator Landscape
    Tuesday March 13, 2012 5:00pm - 6:00pm @ Hilton Austin Downtown (Salon D) (500 E 4th St, Austin, TX 78701)
In the 1980s, several seeds were planted that led to the entrepreneurial environment Greater Austin enjoys today. Among these seeds were the State’s winning bid for the MCC, the founding of Austin Ventures, and the founding of Tivoli Systems. These seeds and many more grew the need for today’s incubator, accelerator, and other hybrid programs. Some programs are comprehensive with office space, mentorship, and year-round access to resources. Others are more virtual and episodic, but no less critical to company founders. With the growth in the pool of entrepreneurs, the diversity of programs has grown, for sports, packaged goods, university students, and more. Who are the people behind these programs? What kinds of companies are being developed via the incubators & accelerators? What does the future hold? Speakers include Bryan Menell of Capital Factory, Mellie Price of Source Spring, Isaac Barchas of ATI, & Mark Pannes of RaptorAccelerator, and Steve Guengerich of BroadBrush Ventures.
