Edward Baig is the Personal Tech columnist for USA TODAY and co-host of USA TODAY's Talking Tech videos. He is a regular on ABC's TechBytes broadcasts, and makes other TV and radio appearances. Baig joined USA TODAY's Life section in Oct. 1999 and launched the popular Wednesday column soon after. In the column, Baig reviews the latest gizmos, gadgets and consumer tech trends with insight and humor. Baig and his column moved to Thursday's and the Money section in Dec. 2003. Besides the column, Baig writes tech features ranging from the future of augmented reality to mobile payments. Prior to joining USA TODAY, Baig worked for Fortune Magazine, from 1978 to 1990, covering leisure industries, among other topics. While there, Baig created Fortune's Products to Watch column and shepherded the America's Most Admired Companies project. He then worked for US News & World Report in Washington DC as an associate editor covering personal technology from 1990 to 1993. From 1993 to 1999, Baig worked as the Personal Business department editor at Business Week in New York and Washington, DC. As department editor, Baig was responsible for covering personal technology, personal finance, collecting, and careers, and won the 1999 Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism Award for "Best Feature on a Personal Finance Topic." Baig is the author of "Palm Pre: Missing Manual" and the latest editions of "Macs For Dummies." He is also co-author of "IPad For Dummies" and "iPhone For Dummies." Baig received a B.A. in political science from York College of the City University of New York and then an MBA from Adelphia University on Long Island.
