Born and raised in New Orleans, let's just say I learned the true meaning of "Laissez les bons temps rouler" at a very young age.
I used to want to be a singer but I decided that I really didn't want to sing for anyone but myself. That said, I think I would have failed miserably at that as a profession.
Looking back, I guess I started out in rock-n-roll at the age of three. My uncle was in a hugely successful 70's stadium act called Black Oak Arkansas. I could often be found side stage, keeping the audience entertained and overseeing, well, pretty much everything (or so I am told). My Dad somehow ended up being the tour manager/bus driver for the band which led to a full-time occupation for him throughout his entire life.
Over the years, he worked with a ton of huge acts including Little Feat, Heart, Foreigner, Duran Duran, Bob Seger and, for the last 16 years of his life, Widespread Panic. Through my Dad, I learned all about the music business and found a way to constantly feed my passion for live music.
I made myself a bonafide "Band Manager" in the 9th grade for a group of friends who were full-on in the Glam Rock phase of life. It was a hoot! I went on to study Audio Engineering in Jr. College and finished my degree at a college outside of Nashville where I've spent the better part of the past 13 years working in many areas of the music biz.
I'm still chasing the dream, even though it keeps dragging me through the gutter, but mostly I find great enjoyment working in this business.
I still have hope that something musically amazing can happen again....and I want to be there when it does.
